
St. Bishoy Monastery

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II (118) was consecrated Bishop of Beheira on June 15, 1997, and his papacy began on November 18, 2012. May God grant him a long life.

His Holiness Pope Shenouda III (the 117th Pope) was of blessed memory. He became a monk at the Monastery of the Syrians in Wadi El Natrun, taking the name Father Antonius the Syrian, and was chosen as Patriarch of the See of St. Mark in 1971. Pope Shenouda III passed away in 2012, and his life and teachings continue to be a source of inspiration and love for millions of Copts around the world.

His Holiness Pope Macarius III (114), of blessed memory, reigned from February 13, 1945 to August 31, 1945. He was consecrated Bishop-Metropolitan of Asyut on July 12, 1897.

The Most Reverend Pope Gabriel VIII (Pope No. 97), whose papacy lasted from 20/6/1587 to 14/5/1603

The Shrine of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III of Blessed Memory is located on the northern side of the historic Church of Anba Bishoy at the Monastery of Saint Anba Bishoy. His Holiness had expressed his wish to be buried in this monastery following his repose. The shrine houses a rich collection of Pope Shenouda III’s belongings, including his writings, photographs, liturgical vestments, and personal possessions, as well as the awards and honorary doctoral degrees he received throughout his life. The shrine is also adorned with beautiful Coptic artwork decorating its domes, depicting saints from both the Old and New Testaments, as well as renowned monastic saints.
