About
He was born in Tahta, Sohag Governorate, on February 16, 1953. He entered monastic life on December 15, 1977, at the Monastery of Saint Anba Bishoy, taking the name Monk Agapios Anba Bishoy. He was ordained a priest on July 18, 1979, and elevated to the rank of Hegumen on April 15, 1996. Selected to serve as Bishop and Abbot of our flourishing monastery, he was consecrated on the morning of Sunday, March 7, 2021, by the hands of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II at the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ in the New Administrative Capital. His Grace has focused on advancing the spiritual and structural development of the monastery. He is dedicated to participating in the daily Hymn of Praise (Midnight Praises) and encouraging his fellow monks to attend regularly. He has also overseen the completion of the restoration of the ancient church and the development and supervision of the monastery’s various projects.
